Sweet Ellie.

Ellie is making great strides in retirement.  She is super sweet and is learning the ropes. She does the stairs like a champ and can handle pretty much any type of flooring.  She is a little tentative about tile but she still walks across it.  She jumps into the car on her own and travels without any issues.  We are still working on her shyness in public.  Now that the weather is turning; more and more outings are on the books.  Ellie likes women and needs a bit of time to warm up to men.  A friendly light approach with lots of treats and time will help a lot.  She loves her toys and is capable of entertaining herself with the toy box.  Ellie would do best in a family with a fenced back yard, even if it's really tiny.  She will pee on leash but is really shy about pooping on leash.  We are working on this but it is slow progress - she's just one of those shy girls.  She needs to be adopted by someone who has another dog that is friendly and outgoing - she will take her lead from another dog. She is not a needy dog at all and she loves it when you give her loves and pettins.  We don't allow her on the bed but I can see there is a real snuggler inside just waiting for the right home.

Ellie waits patiently for her treat.  That's her, the pretty brindle, with the pink collar.  She is just so sweet but she's a foody and likes her special treats!

Totally entertaining herself with some of her favorite toys.  Look how pretty her face is!!  She's kissable.

Baby it's cold outside!

"Ohmygoodness....I got up this morning and it was sooooo cold outside I didn't know what to do.  My foster mom put these awesome jammies on me and now I'm toasty and very happy.  I hope she lets me wear them all day.  I feel they really show off my caramel colored eyes. Don't you?

I'm still looking for my forever home.  I made a little video for you - directly from me.  I'm very sweet, a little shy until I learn what you're all about, but I love yummy treats and I'm always willing to come around for them.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  As for me, I'll be at Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Bristow on Sunday 11/27 (11-2) with a foster brother or sister.  We are going there to tell all kinds of people about the retired Greyhounds and what wonderful pets they make.  I'm a little nervous but foster mom keeps telling me I'm gonna be just fine.  She hasn't let me down yet.

Well that's all for this morning - enjoy my little video!"

Girl Power

Me and my posse!

Foster mom says I am learning well.  I am really food motivated so that helps with getting my attention during training.  I have mastered jumping in and out of the car by myself and I am getting better and better going up and down the steps.  I crate well and love to go into the crate when it's meal time.  Otherwise foster mom tosses a treat in there and I run right inside.  House training is going super well and I have only had 2 accidents over the last couple of weeks.  I am still a shy when foster mom and dad take me out in public but every time they tell me I am doing better.  On the flip side I am totally open and fun loving in the house.  I love toys, antlers, and squweakies.  I sleep in the bedroom at night with all the other dogs and I really really really like to be covered up so I stay nice and toasty.  I'd also enjoy pajamas.  Foster mom puts them on me sometimes and I sleep like a baby!  I get along with the kitties here and I have met many small fluffy dogs that I do well with as well.  Foster mom always makes sure introductions are done properly.  I am still learning everyday and it is all so new and interesting.  Sometimes I am still a bit uncertain of new things but when someone takes their time and goes slow I usually get used to it quickly.  I may never be a super social butterfly out in public but I will try really hard as long as you expose me to these things slowly.  I am going to make my forever family so happy with my silly self and my snuggly side.  I can't wait to meet you!  Now it's time for a nap! (I have mastered napping)

WHAT!?!?!?!?

Foster mom said something about an adoption event coming up!  I'm very excited and I'm busy practicing my cutest alert face.  What do you think?

Or this.....?

Plus I am really sharpening my yogurt eating skills!

I will continue to practice all my new skills until I meet my forever home.  Foster mom says if you are interested in meeting me you can put in an application at GEGR.org.  There's lots of good information about Greyhounds there as well.

Look twice

Here I am with my foster brother "Beezie".  Foster mom was surprised when she looked up and I had managed to wiggle myself onto the bed with him.  He tolerates my silliness.
